Those “Voices in our Head”

When you feel like all your dreams, hopes and life itself have gone up in flames and you have been reduced to a pile of ashes, it is time to turn your eyes upon Jesus, look into His eyes and listen only to is words.  It’s the only way out and back to victory.  We let all those voices from the outside – other’s opinions along with all those “voices” within your head from all the negative you’ve said and been told that got in your head, take control of your thoughts and life.  It’s time to “speak” to all those negative and false / wicked ideas and tell them to leave you alone – go away and take all the spirits of fear with them – shutting the door and never opening it to any of them again.

Those voices in our head don’t have to be actual voices, however, we all have those “messages” that people have given us over the years as casual comments or things told to us by one or more individuals.  They may have been said either for meanness or just as “passing” unintended, or intended comments.  However, often they came, they were taken to heart and have affected our thoughts and actions throughout our life.  If they “stay” with us and are controlling us on some level with those “voices” that return – we might want to address them so we can “work” through / come to terms with what was said and how it has affected us in a negative way.  We can address what was “true” that we believed and what might have been but, does not need to be true, anymore.  It’s too bad those positive messages / statements spoken over and to us, often go off into the “wild blue yonder” while the “not so nice ones” seem to stay around and be like pesky mosquitos on a summer night.

The only way out of this “hamster wheel” it seems to keep us in, with the feeling we have a “truth” that is next to impossible to get away from, is to be able to move into a place of accepting God’s love.  It was a hard road and real struggle to learn and be able to receive God’s love.  However, the truth I found is that it is the only force that is strong enough to override all the negative thoughts and feelings that we fight.  As it begins to “sink in” that we are not who we have believed all our lives – the hurt and limitations that ruled us and manipulated all the freedom and possibilities that we could have had if we didn’t have them floating around in our head, we can begin to be address and then, “send them away”!

I have learned to love me and to accept the love from God as my father.  I had to learn a whole new “image” and understanding of how a father / parent, loves.  It came through being a mother and realizing how much unconditional love we have for our children.  We would go to almost any lengths to protect and provide for our child, no matter what they have done.  Our love goes beyond all measure – and this is the love that God has for us.

When that shift comes, slowly but surely, we gain freedom, joy and peace.  We can begin to get rid of “our demons” or “voices in our head / sitting on our shoulder whispering in our ear” – by replacing them with positive “affirmations” or statements – talking to ourselves with love and what we want and who we want to be.  Finding scriptures that state God’s love for us helps.  The 23rd Psalm, the 91st and 34th Psalm, just to name a few.  Explore the entire reason for Christmas and Jesus’ coming to earth that led to Easter, the crucifixion and resurrection.  Throughout all the gospels and new testament are the statements of the Love our Father has for us.  The example Jesus showed us of who God is, along with the power He has given us to overcome the negative in our life, can and will change our lives forever, when we accept understand and accept.

It takes time, some energy and most of all “learning” to be kind to ourself.  Give yourself love and be as loving to yourself as you would be to a small child learning to walk, encouraging and picking them back up when they fall.  When you can do that, you will be on your way to finding out who you truly are and who you / we can be free to be.

Blessings as you “shift your mindset” and REFUSE to listen to or believe any of the “old negative voices” that have haunted you and sat on your shoulder all your life.  They have to not just Shut up – but go Away! – forever and if they try to come back – just send them off again by telling them you will not listen or allow them “in your head” anymore!
