I just lost someone important to me in my life.
He’s not really lost. He has just moved – on over to heaven.
As we stood at the casket, his wife’s heart was breaking. She did not know how she was going to go on without him. The hurt and pain were so intense, it was almost unbearable.
What God has given me to cope with his death and with others’ deaths is invaluable. It is the knowledge that only the body dies. The spirit lives on.
The Spirit lives on forever within the safety of heaven when they have known and served God.
I visualize the joy they are feeling. They walk the streets of gold, free from all sorrow, hurt, and pain. They are having fun with their friends and family. These are the loved ones who went before and were waiting there for them in heaven.
I return to these visions in my head. I see my grandson with his big grin and special walk. He is free from all torment – physical, mental, and emotional.
The emptiness that I feel hurts. The times we are wishing he were still here to share time with us are real. During these times I choose to focus on remembering the joy he brought to my life.
I thank God for all the good times and for the memories that can never be taken. I look ahead to knowing I will get to spend time with him again. There will never be another parting in the future. After I “move” off the earth, I will enter the home our heavenly Father has for me.
I ask God to bring comfort to my cousin’s wife. I also ask for comfort for all of you who have had to part from your loved ones. May you know they are safe, happy and at peace. May you feel God’s love and strength to keep going and finish your walk here. May you know you will see your loved one again and be together through all eternity.
Many Blessings
