Prisons

There are many types of prisons beside just the ones with bars and cells where you are called an inmate.  Many of us have our own “prisons” that lie between our two ears, in our mind, with all its limits through the negative thoughts we “entertain” in our daily lives.

Those negative “voices within our head” that keep us trapped inside and limiting how we can function, telling us everything “wrong” with us and how we are not doing or being like we “should” be.

It takes effort to combat them, learn to live in freedom from all the fears and the voices that shout, “you could have . . . ”, “you should have . . .”, or “should be . . . “, “if only you would have . . .”, and all those things we “fight” regarding how we see ourselves and our lives.

I have found the only true and lasting way to change my mindset, and therefore get free from my own prison, is to find scriptures and not just read them, but learn them and let them become “real” for me where they change my thinking from the very depths of the soul.  I find things that “combat” each situation so I am ready to “fire my artillery” back to, as a dear, darling little 85-year-old friend of mine would say – the “itty, bitty, shitty committee” that sits on our shoulder and whispers judgements and condemnations into our ears.

You must take time to explore scriptures that speak directly to your specific problems.  Then it becomes almost a ritual to just speak them (out loud and to yourself) over and over until they are just automatic responses to situations you are dealing with.  At some point, they become real and a true belief that you hang on to, refusing to “buy in to” all those outside voices, at all cost.

There is a list of scriptures under the tab on the front page of the “raised from the ashes” website to begin to choose from and make them “your own”, trying this for yourself.

Messages from ministers such as Keith Moore with Faith Life Church (all available for free download) and music from artist like Zach Williams can and will reinforce your mind set to truly make changes within your soul and change your life.

Blessings as you give this a “try”, then put it into practice and find the power it has for your life. You can find true freedom from all the limitations and “prisons” in you thoughts and life, then soar above and away into peace and rest.

I'm not an expert, nor do I have a "degree" in the area of addiction - I am simply a Mother and Grandma with a heart for all who battle with any addiction and those whose lives are affected by their loved ones struggle. There is a driving force behind my passion to be a voice for both those caught in the grip of addiction and their family and friends, as their lives and hearts are broken from this evil. May you find hope and peace as we walk through this together with God's help.
