Where Have Compassion and Kindness Gone?

It seems we have lost the art of either one.  And not just for others but for ourselves, because if we do not give it to ourselves and are not able to understand where someone else is operating from – there is nothing left but judgement and brokenness both within ourselves and within relationships, in families and everywhere else in our world.

It is sad how we have become so disassociated with how others are feeling.  It can seem that the vast majority are having trouble dealing with their own issues, with nothing left over to try to deal with or understand where someone else is coming from.  People are often “broken”, as we can also often feel ourselves.

Sadly, what seems the most broken, is the understanding that without God’s help we are at the mercy of limited resources.  Sometimes there is a desperation to just deal with our own issues and the complete lack of ability to step back and see from the outside, what someone else is dealing with.  We have all learned, all too well, to cover up our own insecurities – to act like everything is ok because we can’t “trust” our own struggles to be “out there” for others to judge and tell us what we should and shouldn’t be doing.  We often feel very fragile inside and are not willing to admit it, even to ourselves.

We don’t need to be “fixed” or “fix” someone else with advice or a “to do” list of how to get through something or deal with it – we need compassion, love and caring – a little kindness that can go a long, long, way to healing ourselves and others.

Can we have the courage to stop and take the time to find kindness for ourselves as well as for others around us?  My belief and prayer, is that we can – we just have to decide that we will!

Blessings as you “become” brave and share true love in the form of caring and kindness to yourself and others.

There is a driving force behind my passion to be a voice for both those caught in the grip of addiction and their family and friends, as their lives and hearts are broken from this evil. May you find hope and peace as we walk through this together with God's help.
